Friends in Low Places
Technology and Art help a tree prosper. This project is part of the plant upgrades series which include the CO2 Roamer and Light Roamers.
This project attempts via technology to provide some measurable environmental improvements to plants by delivering water and light to the plant when the natural supplies are lacking. The mushrooms collect solar energy and water, storing them until the plant needs them. Then, the mushrooms can deliver the water on dry days or use specially selected LED lights to stimulate photosynthesis on cloudy days. The sculptural solar mushrooms serve their aesthetic role, while at the same time providing a balanced supply of water and light to give the chosen plant, in this case a local pine-oak, a better environment to flourish.
